How to limit the tracking?
You already learn how companies are collecting your information while you are using the internet. It is always better to know how they collect your data and how you can be careful with your privacy to give off your information publicly.
First of all, you never know how they are going to use your data. It could be good or in the worst stereo that you would never imagine. So, it is always better to ask yourself “are you giving your personal data?” “Is it okay if the public knows about it?” If it is okay, you can publish. If you are uncertain, please don’t submit. Please consult with your guidance first for example your parents, your teacher or anyone that you trust.
Here are three ways to limit the data tracking:
- Adjust privacy settling – Most applications have privacy settings where you can limit information you allow to be collected. It is in your phone, laptops, or any devices or any web browser you visited. You can make your account private and deny access to your location and contact information.
- Turn off cookies – As you know cookies are used for saving your history usage on any websites you visited. Then it will remember you and save information into your web browser history. If you don’t want them to track your data, please turn off your cookies. Here is how.
Step 1: Go to your setting by clicking on the three dots on the right hand of the browser.
Step 2: When you are in the settings homepage, click on “privacy and security”. You will see “cookies and other site data” on the third row when you scroll down.
Step 3: You can select which options work best for you. You can turn off all cookies or block only third-party cookies.
- Limit what you share – Information is used for improving our experience and bringing benefits. However, if it isn’t necessary, it is important that you don’t provide your email address or link your personal profile from source (app or website) to another. If these are required, check the privacy policy first to see how the information is being used. This means you are aware of how your data will be used.
