What is cyber-bullying?

Cyberbullying is when someone is threatened or harassed on social networking sites through a variety of forms such as posting, sending, or sharing personal information, pictures, or videos that could harm someone else. It is the use of digital technology to bully someone online. Even if the bullying has stopped, cyberbullying can have long-lasting emotional effects on individuals. Though technology has brought new opportunities for students, it is important that everyone is aware and cautious.   

 

Who is involved?

Cyber Bullying incidents generally involve three different roles: 

  1. initiators ( those doing the bullying ) 
  2. targets ( those being bullied )
  3. bystanders ( those who witness the bullying ).

 

Initiators 

Students who bully others often do to gain status and their bullying behavior is be like

  • Their attitude would like to show off that’s the strongest in team or  brag
  • As a child, most of the rich are in or in many school groups.
  • Their friends colludes by not challenging the initiator

Targets

Students of all the age could be have a high risk of being bullied in their school or society

  • students with low self-esteem
  • Different culture , religious background, sexual orientation, or socio-economic 
  • being perceived as a low achiever
  • moving to the area from another city or country.

Bystanders

They are the power of initiators that can be supporter or Follower their friends to do 

  • take an active role in the bullying behavior
  • providing audiences by laughing and making encouraging​ to initiators 
  • Happened to see, stay away, and do not talk to anyone else.
